Caramelized Green Beans

The Alison's Pantry frozen green beans are perfect in this recipe. I didn't have fresh garlic, so I used Garlic Supreme. I added it in with the onions to saute, but I think it would work out better putting it in with the sauce or adding in when you add in the pepper. I am trying to cut sugar out of my diet, so I used Splenda. Precooked bacon is a time saver. It is so convenient to stick in the microwave and warm to desired crispness.

1 lb. frozen green beans (#3781) or fresh
1/2 lb. Daily's precooked bacon (#4835)
1/2 red onion, sliced
3-4 cloves garlic, minced or pressed or 1 -2 tsp. garlic supreme (#2592)
olive oil
2 Tbsp. sugar or Splenda
2 Tbsp. soy sauce
1/2 tsp. salt
Lots of freshly-ground pepper

Warm bacon in microwave to desired crispiness. I usually cook it for 1 minute 30 seconds.

Prepare the sauce by mixing sugar, soy sauce, and salt in a small bowl. If you are using Garlic Supreme add this to the sauce also.

Use some olive oil and heat pan to medium-high heat. When the pan is hot, add onions and fresh minced garlic. Stir garlic and onions, add in the green beans.  Stir until beans are warmed through.

Stir sauce and then pour on top of the beans. Keep stirring until the beans are coated.

Crumble bacon and add to beans. Add freshly-ground pepper. Keep stir frying until the sauce sticks to the beans and the bacon. Transfer to a serving dish and allow to stand a few minutes so the beans cool down  and the glaze thickens.
